National Recovery Administration is established in Washington, D.C.

Created by National Industrial Recovery Act, the voluntary agreement among government, business, and labor sets minimum wages, maximum hours, and rules for business competition. Much of the NIRA legislation is struck down by the Supreme Court in 1935.*
